So where can we look at land to steward and develop our Faerie links?
Brazil?
Africa?
Politics and economics challenging forces to negotiate.
Perhaps a Faerie Gathering in one of these places?

Re: Rainforest Faerie Sanctuary
Wed, April 27, 2005 - 12:41 PMI think the Big Island of Hawai'i is a good choice. But really, I think the first frontier is in our enculturated minds. We need to forge new pathways into our collective understandings first, making way for newness. -

Re: Rainforest Faerie Sanctuary
Wed, April 27, 2005 - 6:35 PMSo have y'all found some land to work with down in Hawaii?
The winter gathering sounded exciting, I would have liked to have been there, but your government is turning away faes at the border. You should do something about those control qweens!
America seems to be becoming more polarized internally and more insulated from the rest of the world externally. Though Hawaii sanctuary is hella cool and I applaud your work, I believe it is important for us to expand our circle outside the political and economic USA.
All this is framed by my recent experience trying to reunite with my Fae sisters in Tennessee. That feeling of being denied access to family has stuck with me and underscored the importance of globalizing our movement.
You are right of course that the change begins in our own minds. But ideas also take root in different places, and those wonderful seeds of Fae culture can produce real magic when they land in new places.
Blessings To You Beautiful Brother,

Re: Rainforest Faerie Sanctuary
Thu, April 28, 2005 - 12:48 PMI absolutly agree with the you on the problems with the US government. I regards to doing something about it, all I can do is vote, call my senetors, and pray. All of which I do. The US gov. makes me very nervous for my freedom and safety. That is one reason why I moved to Hawai'i, it is far removed from the US, culturally speaking. The movement to separate from the US government is strong here and it is legally valid and supported by the UN. However, the US military has a huge presence here. In regards to creating a sanctuary here, well, I have no part in that other than being here. There is a sanctuary in Australia, up north in the rainforest I believe. They have some sort of web presence, so maybe you can connect with them.
I'm looking to New Zealand myself, mostly because I am very attracted to Polynesia, and New Zealand is a large and fairly liberal nation. -

Fri, April 29, 2005 - 10:10 AMHawaii separate from the US? That sounds good! Maybe we could get a radical, inclusive new constitution in place there, like they did in South Africa when apartheid was ended.
Kiwi Faeries sounds good too- from what I hear they are more community minded as it is. And they are surrounded by fascinating tribal cultures.
I hope that this dialog continues. I would like to continue to affirm the need for global sanctuary space.
One forum where I think Faeries should have a presence is at the World Social Forum held each year in Porto Allegre, Brazil. Anyone up for a trip?
Thanks,
Mercury
